Museum
Prior to the May 4th, 2007 tornado that devastated Greensburg, The Big Well Museum and Gift Shop was housed in a modest building on site. Visitors were able to view the well from above or take tours into the well.
After the tornado, the building and water tower were destroyed, leaving nothing but the well.

The new Big Well Museum construction will began on September 19th, 2011 at 10am with a groundbreaking ceremony. The museum celebrated its grand opening May 26, 2012. The new museum features exhibits on the history of Greensburg and the digging of the Big Well, the tornado, and the rebuilding of our town. Visitors once again are able take tours into the well.
